1. Doi Son Festival (from January 5th to 7th on the lunar calendar)

Occurring from January 5th to 7th of on the lunar calendar, the festival has the meaning of encouraging farm work with a history from the 10th century in the hometown of King Le Dai Hanh (Ha Nam).

After many years, this festival was restored on January 7th (the lunar month), 2009. The festival includes many interesting activities.

There are also many different games in the festival, for example, swinging, cooking contest, Tru singing, and Cheo singing.

3. Bai Dinh Pagoda Festival, Ninh Binh (January 6th on the lunar calendar)

The festival of Bai Dinh Pagoda is a spring festival, which is held on the 6th day of the Lunar New Year and lasts until the end of the third lunar month, commencing the pilgrimage festivals of Hoa Lu Ancient Town, Ninh Binh Province.

The special thing in Bai Dinh pagoda architecture is the space which is always opened. Since the construction of the statue of Buddha which was placed outside, the pagoda has attracted a large crowd of pilgrims to worship.

The architecture of the new pagoda is characterized by large, monumental blocks bearing the imprint of Vietnamese architecture such as the use of local materials (Ninh Binh green stone, ivory wood) and dark brown Bat Trang ceramics.

The most distinctive of Bai Dinh pagoda architecture is the dark arched roof of the phoenix tail which is not the same as the rough line of the Chinese temples. The architectural details of the pagoda are also bearing the stamp of famous traditional villages in Vietnam.

Bai Dinh Pagoda includes folk games, cave-watching, temple sightseeing as well as Cheo, Xam, Ca Tru singing.

4. Lim festival, Bac Ninh (January 13th on lunar calendar)

Lim festival is a big festival held on 12th and 13th January every year in Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province. Lim festival is considered the unique crystallization of Kinh Bac culture.

Lim Festival is a unique cultural and artistic activity of the long-standing traditional culture in the North and Quan Ho folk songs become the common cultural property of the Vietnamese people, representing lyrical folk songs in the North of Vietnam.
