The Nam Hai resort in Vietnam has been hailed by the prestigious hospitality organization, “The Leading Hotels of the World”, for its efforts to exert a positive impact on the world in the area of community outreach.
In 2009, the resort launched “The Sympathetic Hearts” charity fund to bring support to the local community, with a special focus on helping disadvantaged children attend school.
The fund conducted various projects, including a scholarship program that paid for school tuition and expenses for 57 local children, blanket and food donation following the devastation of Typhoon Ketsana, presenting gifts of basic necessities such as rice, noodles and laundry detergent to local families during Tet Lunar New Year in 2010 and organizing a beach clean-up on World Environment Day.
Other projects to be realized include university scholarships for five talented local students, food donations to a local orphanage and handicapped centre sponsored by Tetra-Pak Japan, and regular medical missions.
